Pletcher Sales, Inc.
Location: Bristol, Indiana
Architectural Design: J.A. Wagner Construction, Inc.
Project Scope: Warehouse expansion and showroom
Pletcher Sales, Inc. is a leading supplier of decorative products to the recreational vehicle industry. Recently, Pletcher Sales acquired Elkhart-based Fabric Technologies, a designer and manufacturer of bedspreads, headboards, and soft goods used in RVs. Along with this acquisition came the need for more space, so Pletcher contacted J.A. Wagner to construct a 48,500-square-foot addition to their manufacturing facility in Bristol, Indiana.
The new, Butler pre-engineered metal building addition consists of expanded manufacturing space as well as a 3,000-square-foot showroom. The building also features a lounge, a second floor loft and mezzanine with polished concrete, steel and wood stairway, and stainless steel cable railing.
This project presented some challenges. In order to accommodate an additional 85 employees from the Fabric Technologies acquisition and future business growth, a new fire protection system and a larger sewer were required. Municipal sewer and water was not available to the site. Additionally, a fire well was needed for the site, and two attempts were made before finding an adequate ground water source. A large septic tank and field system were needed, which was very difficult due to site constraints. Despite the numerous site challenges, the J.A. Wagner team worked closely with Pletcher’s in-house design staff to complete this project on-time and on-budget.
“From concept to completion, working with J.A. Wagner was a seamless process. Their team not only brought innovative design ideas but cost-saving ideas as well. The follow-up after our project was complete was also excellent. We will definitely work with J.A. Wagner for our next project.”
