Design-Build Spotlight on Vista Manufacturing, Inc.
Vista Manufacturing, Inc., the premier name in LED lighting products, incandescent lighting products and custom LED panels for more than 35 years, selected J.A. Wagner Construction in 2013 as the contractor for their new company headquarters in Elkhart, Indiana.
Tod E. Tieszen, President of Vista, reached out to J.A. Wagner for assistance in finding and upgrading an existing building in the area that would fit the company’s current needs, as well as to accommodate the manufacturer’s future growth. When those prospects fell through, J.A. Wagner proposed the development of a new site and facility for Vista.
Rather than having to conform to an existing structure, J.A. Wagner could build the exact facility that Vista’s growing business required. “Wagner came along side us and helped us with the design of the building, and even facilitated the purchase of the property with the land owner,” noted Tieszen.
Construction began in the Spring of 2013 and Vista was moved in before Thanksgiving. The 33,750-square-foot Butler® pre-engineered metal building features a two-story office totaling 8,650 square feet that contains several private offices, a large plant break room and a high tech executive conference room. The exterior of the building is modern and stylish, featuring large split face block columns at the front entrance with a glass curtain wall in a cool, solar reflective finish. Energy efficiency and low maintenance costs were important considerations. A Butler® building was chosen as they require minimal maintenance. In fact, their MR-24 roof system has a proven in-place performance of more than 40 years.
Tod and his team at Vista are currently in their second year at their new home and are enjoying every aspect of the facility. “Now that we have been in our building for some time, I can honestly say that I wouldn’t change a single thing,” added Tieszen.
